first light™ have
developed a world first for marine safety, with
the soon to be released mermaid-id™.
The system is a self initiated digital-sonar alarm, for use within man-overboard
(MOB) situations.
The alarm is a three piece integrated
system, comprising of;
| |
•
|
'id-pods™', which are
to be worn by all the family, crew members or
even pets - these could even be attached to any
valuable items on the boat that might fall off |
| |
• |
A 'thru
hull hydrophone' (listening transducer) that listens
for a unique signal produced by the id-pods |
| |
• |
A 'helm' unit that will attach to the dashboard
of the boat. |
The id-pods™ that are worn by each
crew member transmit a digital coded signal the
instant they're
submerged in water - this is made possible by the two pins located on the id-pod™.
When these pins are in contact water for one second, and this contact is constant
across the two pins, the pod activates and sends the unique digital-sonar signal under the water. This signal is picked up by the hydrophone, and
relayed to the 'helm'. Instantly four critical actions happen:
| |
1: |
The MOB's impact point is electronically tagged and
stored via the internal GPS |
| |
2: |
Two visual alarms are raised via the seven high
brightness LED's and the display |
| |
3: |
An audible alarm is raised, (the system allows for extra speakers to be fitted) |
| |
4: |
Using the LED's, the system will help you to 'Track-Back' to the original
impact point |
